Churubusco defeated Whitko 25-6 thanks to a strong start. Churubusco scored on a double by Jake Fulk, an error, a single by Colton Anderson, and a double by Brayten Gordon in the first inning.

“Jake felt responsible for allowing Whitko to score 3 runs in the first,” Coach Jordan Turner commented, “but he came through and totally redeemed himself with that bases clearing double.”

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Churubusco collected 15 hits and Whitko had seven.

Churubusco scored 13 runs in the fourth inning. Parker Curry, Blake Trostel, Evan Snyder, Parker Sturtz, Fulk, and Tom Richards all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Fulk was the winning pitcher for Churubusco. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out ten.

Turner added, “When Jake settled down, he really threw well. [We] look for him to continue having success on the mound this season.”

Churubusco had 15 hits in the game. Snyder, Fulk, Gordon, Seth Abel, and Anderson all collected multiple hits for Churubusco. Snyder led Churubusco with three hits in three at bats. Curry led Churubusco with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
